Women in the Arts, Inc. is excited to present an extensive 10-Year Retrospective exhibition with a wealth of winning artwork and selections from the past ten years of the international juried competition: "Celebrating the Genius of Women" in honor of Women's History Month. The Retrospective shows past and present work from fifty-eight Orlando, United States, and international artists.
What a difference a year makes.
The Wekiva River PaintOut 2020 was really the last major art event I had participated in until the 2021 Wekiva PaintOut. A year of focusing on home and family was time well spent and I hope you and all of yours were able to put some things into focus as well..
That said, it was really wonderful to be immersed in art again and to spend a glorious week painting outside was a dream. I am a lucky little artist.
Hi everyone!
Before things got crazy, I had one of the best weeks I have ever had as an artist. I was invited to be one of the lucky few professional artists featured in the Wekiva River Paint out this past March. This unique event benefits Keep Seminole Beautiful and The Wekiva Wilderness Trust, and is a full week of "plein air" painting in Seminole County with all kinds of wonderful events, amazing people, and fund raising for some causes that are very dear to me. I took my silk painting studio on the road and set up camp at Wekiva Island for the week and produced some work I am very proud of. Now I am only getting around to settling back into my home studio in May because of the CoronaVirus, and my studies, as well as my kids' studies, were moved online- and that took about the last 8 weeks of my life to deal with! Glad I am at least done for the semester and can get back to making some beautiful stuff! Stay well my friends!
I was honored to be invited to the Jury for the 2020 Women in the Arts Awards in Orlando, Florida this year. Unfortunately this year's art show and awards were interrupted by the Corona Virus quarantine measures and Jurying was done remotely. Congratulations though to all participants, this year's honorees, and the award winners. You are all so very talented.
